Travel shorts: On the Spanish Steps, Rome

January 20, 2010

My favourite fountain in all of Rome (a city overflowing with magnificent water features) can be found at the base of the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna. Best viewed while reclining with a bottle of water on the Spanish Steps, Fontana della Barcaccia or “Fountain of the Old Boat”, with its turquoise drinking water, is an understated and pretty fountain. The boat and the steps attract a huge number of tourists. It’s a fantastic place to sit and chill and watch the world go by.
